Hi, my name is Maryam Juliet Kececioglu Inan, and I have been a proud Ridgefield resident for twenty years and a mother of two children. My daughter is entering her second year at UCLA, and my son is a junior in high school. I am a freelance journalist and spend my time volunteering with many local organizations. Additionally, I am an active member of the Women’s Guild at Holy Cross Armenian Church and the Vice President of the SOAR-NJ chapter. I have been proud to serve on the Ridgefield Board of Education for six years and look forward to continuing to serve Ridgefield, a community I call home and love.
Juliet’s Accomplishments on the Board of Education
1. Strengthening Our Curriculum.
- On the Board of Education, I supported efforts to strengthen our curriculum, which included the implementation of the STEM Academy, the implementation of the Business Academy, and the expansion of Advanced Placement (AP) course offerings.
2. Supporting English Learners
- On the Board of Education, I emphasized strengthening the ESL curriculum to make sure all students are able to thrive in our community and are supported and valued.
3. Expanding Access to Education
- Students with disabilities are talented people capable of advancing our communities. As such, on the Board of Education, I supported efforts to strengthen Ridgefield’s Learning Center, which strives to give students with disabilities an equal learning opportunity.
4. Counter Bullying and Creating a Safe Learning Environment
- On the Board of Education, I fought for smart policies to discourage bullying in our schools and cultivate a safe learning environment for all by supporting more counselors, social-emotional programs, and safer classrooms.
5. Showcasing the Best of Ridgefield
- I believe that the best way to showcase the best of our community is to share food, art, music, and traditions of many cultures. As such, on the Board of Education, I supported efforts to establish the Ridgefield International Festival, a new tradition in Ridgefield to showcase many different cultures.
6. Responsible Budgets
- Sixty percent of Ridgefield’s taxpayer funds go to our public school system. On the Board of Education, I supported responsible budgets that kept the best interests of taxpayers in mind.
