October 28, 2025* - Deadline to Apply for a Mail-In Ballot by Mail for the General Election

November 4, 2025 (6 AM to 8 PM) - Election Day

* Voters are strongly encouraged to complete this task as early as possible, if applicable.

In New Jersey, eligible citizens are able to register to vote through an online application or a paper application. If you are already registered at your current address, you do not need to complete this step. If you are unsure about your voter registration status, you can check here.

Declaring your party affiliation does not prevent you from voting for a candidate from a different party or in a nonpartisan school board race in the general election. You will still be able to vote for any candidate you want in the general election. If you declare your party affiliation to be either Democratic or Republican, you will have the ability to vote in the primary election for the party you choose to affiliate with.

To register in New Jersey, you must be:

• A United States citizen
• At least 17 years old, though you may not vote until you have reached the age of 18
• A resident of the county for 30 days before the election
• A person not serving a sentence of incarceration as the result of a conviction of any indictable offense under the laws of this or another state or of the United States.

All registered voters in New Jersey are able to vote by mail, regardless of circumstances. However, to receive a mail-in ballot, voters must request it from their county's election office by the deadline of October 28, 2025, unless they have previously requested a mail-in ballot for all future elections, in which case they should have received a mail-in ballot for the November 2025 General Election. Voters intending to vote by mail are advised to request and submit their mail-in ballot as early as possible.

Submitting Your Mail-In Ballot:

If you are voting by mail, there are two primary methods of submitting your mail-in ballot: 

1. Send it through USPS (Post Office). 
2. Drop off your ballot in the ballot drop-off box at 725 Slocum Avenue, Ridgefield, NJ 07657. 

The Early Voting Period is from October 25, 2025, to November 2, 2025. Hours and location for early voting can be found here. All registered Bergen County voters can vote at any of the in-person early voting locations listed on the Bergen County Clerk's website. 

Election Day is on November 4, 2025, from 6 AM to 8 PM. Find your Election Day polling location here.
