Academics

Academics are at the heart of our school district’s mission. We believe that providing high-quality education is one of the most important ways we can serve our students and prepare them for long-term success.

If elected, we will push for the expansion of honors, dual-enrollment, and Advancement Placement (AP) courses at Ridgefield Memorial High School, to give students the opportunity to advance their education. Additionally, we will work tirelessly to expand opportunities for all capable students who wish to advance from standard-level courses to higher-level courses, to allow them to level-up their education. We will also work to strengthen our academic curriculum across all grade levels, from Pre-K through 12th grade.

Accessibility

Ridgefield’s dedication to accessibility is what makes our school district special. We believe it is vital to build on this commitment by listening to parents, students, and educators to find new ways to make education more accessible and ensure Ridgefield provides a supportive environment for all. We will also continue to strengthen the Learning Center and work to ensure that it has the resources needed to help every student succeed.

Career and College Readiness

In today’s world, it is becoming harder for young people to get into college or secure internships and jobs. That is why it is so important for our schools to give students the resources they need to succeed. If elected, we will work to make sure students have the right tools to navigate college applications, discover career paths, and find internships and jobs. This means strengthening the business curriculum by emphasizing resume writing, interview skills, and professional development, and putting more emphasis on college application writing in the curriculum.

Cultivating a Safe Learning Environment

Having a safe learning environment is essential to giving every student the chance to succeed. That means doing our part to maintain strong and effective anti-bullying policies and creating a community where every student feels included. If elected, we will work to ensure our schools have mental health and well-being counselors, and that educators and staff are properly trained to support students who may be going through difficult times. Just as importantly, we will make sure students know about the resources available to them.

In today’s world, where social media and artificial intelligence are rapidly changing the way students learn and interact, it is also important to teach healthy and responsible use of technology. This includes understanding what data is being collected, how to protect privacy, and how to respond to cyberbullying. If elected, we will advocate for a course that gives students the knowledge and skills to use technology wisely while protecting their well-being.

Extracurriculars

From music to sports to community service, extracurriculars give students the chance to grow, discover new interests, and build lasting friendships. If elected, we will work to expand opportunities and strengthen existing programs so every student can find something that inspires them and helps them thrive.

Funding & Accountability

About sixty percent of Ridgefield’s taxpayer dollars go toward our public schools. It is vital that these budgets are fiscally responsible and sustainable for the long term. If elected, we will make sure no funds are wasted and that every dollar is used effectively to maximize its impact on our students.

Policy 5756

Our personal view on Policy 5756 is that parents should not be kept in the dark about their children. Parents have the right to know about their children. At the same time, we recognize that this is a sensitive issue that requires maturity and care.

If elected, we will support removing Policy 5756 from our school system, and we are committed to ensuring that all voices are openly heard as our district navigates this sensitive issue.
